![]() It takes the least skill to use out of all the class abilities, and also offers by very far the most value. It's literally that: it improves your performance regardless of whether you are good or bad, and takes very little if any skill to use effectively. The truth is that the overshield is a crutch, a flat force multiplier. Renzor is trying to argue that the overshield is not OP, based on whatever bad players say. And if the class is overplayed I think something should be done, because let's be honest the "1v1 powerhouse" that can also attack vehicle and that is also good is group play make no sense from a game design stand point. The main frustration against HA come from the fact that they are pretty much the "anti-everything" class. Worse their mobility is only affected when they use their shield ( I really think they should be slower all the time). HA do not have to make any choice in that matter. If you have great offensive abilities you should not be resilient, and the opposite is also true. The problem is NOT the shield, the problem is that their LMG are just as powerful as other weapon, and that they have access to SMG/Shotgun. The HA is two class at the same time, a group combat frontliner ( that is supposed to take hit while avoiding to die too fast) AND a "tank buster". HA is a tanky/AV class, the shield is supposed to help them survive hit from vehicle/in group combat. The 1v1 classes are Inf and LA ( powerful against isolated target, weak in group), the main combat class is supposed to be ( and that was confirmed by dev) the combat medic ( because this is the only way to have support in a modern game.). Well, I for one think that the idea that heavy is supposed to be the 1v1 class is a false assumption. That being said, I wouldn't lose any sleep if the heavy assault were removed entirely and the RL was given to another class, like engineer in exchange for their turret (in this case make it so they can't resupply their own launcher, because that would probly be too strong) or in exchange for their ammo box. ![]() Now, I don't think it's "OP", but it is a significant advantage, I think it's a reasonable tradeoff for their lack of support utility. Things are never as simple as you tried to make them seem in this video. Things like "double back and prefire" or "use cover" don't cut it, because they will be using cover too, they may prefire you when you try to double back because your play was obvious to them or you were simply spotted and they saw you turn back. Yes, a "bad" or average player on a heavy is not "op" to people who know what they are doing, but a good HA who knows what the hell they are doing is a serious force to be reckoned with. If you assume equal skill, you should assume the heavy will also only engage on their own terms, and not be stupid enough to haphazardly sprint after you when you try to run, double back and prefire them. If you are talking class balance equal skill should always be assumed. A lot of this assumes the person you are fighting is worse than you, like "aim for the head", well, if they aim for the head too, you are still at a disadvantage.
